Bon Voyage February: Greetings March!

Hello again my readers! Welcome to the fabulous month ahead that is March! But before we officially wave away the month of February, let's take a look at some of its most memorable moments, just to put us all at ease. Be prepared to revisit the good, the bad and the ugly my friends, because we're going all in.

6. BAFTA's 2014

Yes, this one's pretty boring considering it happened only about two weeks ago, but it is indeed the biggest night in the British Awards Show Calendar, and that should be celebrated. Plus, who doesn't like a good Stephen Fry filled evening complete with random facts and a bunch of confused celebrities? Doesn't that just sound like really super bad reality TV (which let's face it, is always the best kind)? Move over Big Brother, here comes the BAFTA's.

5. Leighton Meester and Adam Brody get married secretly

Another month, another secret marriage. It seems like just yesterday Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting discreetly tied the knot, however this has now officially become old news now that this new couple got hitched in secret. Maybe it's the nature of Hollywood that forces all these people to keep their ceremony on the down low (or maybe they're all just super boring), but it seems that this is becoming some sort of motif. Perhaps they got nervous about having to live up to the reputation of Blair's mammoth wedding(s) on 'Gossip Girl'?  Whatever it is, it seemed that these two felt the need to go totally under the radar, their only acknowledgment of the matrimony in the form of Adam's verbal confirmation. Well anyway, good for them. Let's face it, if Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen can't find love together, then who can?

4. Charlotte Dawson Dies

It made headlines recently when former model and TV personality Charlotte Dawson took her own life on the 22nd of February, and to be honest, it was kind of shocking. I mean, sure she'd had a history with depression and anxiety and stuff, but it's not like anybody was expecting this to happen. I knew her mainly as one of the judges on the reality show 'Australia's Next Top Model', and although I didn't really know much (or anything) about her, she seemed nice and relatively in good spirits. So yeah, this was pretty sucky and awful, and wasn't exactly a good note to end February on.

3. Robin Thicke and Paula Patton enter into splitzville

It's kind of awful that this was ahead of someone's death, but you know, life is a cray place. There's probably no doubt that you've heard something about the recent break up between Robin Thicke and Paula Patton (whoever she is). I guess Robin must've blurred the lines a little too much (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist). I have to say, it wasn't exactly a surprise. Ever since the whole infamous VMA scandal, there wasn't really any hope for the survival of their relationship. I don't think anyone can ever come back from Miley Cyrus twerking against you with a foam finger. Ever. Strangely enough, they've been married for 9 years, and actually got together way back when they were 16 (talk about awkward turtle).  Will it stick? Only time will tell.

2. Philip Seymour Hoffman Dies

Once again, it seems that we were faced with another celebrity death this month, this time in the form of a drug overdose by legendary actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. If we're being totally honest, I actually had no idea who he was before 'Catching Fire' (and the first thing I said when I found out may or may not have been 'How are they gonna finish the last two movies?', but whatever). Still, this sucks a lot. Apparently he'd had a history with drugs and stuff before, so the way he died on February 2nd this year wasn't necessarily a surprise to all, but I guess you never really expect a famous actor to be found dead in a hotel room with a needle sticking out of their arm. Dear Hollywood, please stop dying.

1. Shirley Temple Dies

What do you know, another death? They seem to just keep coming and coming this month, what's with that? Anyway, I don't think there's a person on the planet who hasn't heard about this one. It seems that Shirley Temple passed away on February 10th this year of natural causes (whatever that means). I remember watching all of her movies when I was little, I'd just sit there and watch her videos over and over again on repeat (mainly because I didn't know how to work the VCR, but that doesn't matter). I think everyone was a bit upset about this, because no one really thought of her as ageing past 10. The concept of her being 75 is actually still super weird to grasp, I mean what happened to 'The Good Ship Lollipop'? At least in her case, she seemed to go rather peacefully and wasn't brutally murdered or anything (which is always a bonus). Still, it was super sad and depressing, and kind of impacted everybody.

So that's the end of my short, kind of depressing list. There was actually a seriously messed up amount of deaths in February, it was ridiculous. Hopefully this month, everyone will try and continue breathing. I hope everyone was vaguely entertained, and now feels officially ready to move into the month of March. Til' next time . . .
